4 Valuable Research Tools for Students
5th October, 2015

This morning I bring you four valuable research tools that can help you as a student. Here they are:

Wolfram Alpha:  is a computational knowledge engine or answer engine developed by Wolfram Research. It is an online service that answers factual queries directly by computing the answer from externally sourced "curated data", rather than providing a list of documents or web pages that might contain the answer as a search engine might.

Google Books : is a service from Google Inc. that searches the full text of books and magazines that Google has scanned, converted to text using optical character recognition, and stored in its digital database. The books are provided either by publishers and authors through the Google Books Partner Program, or by Google's library partners or through the Library Project.

Google Scholar is a freely accessible web search engine that indexes the full text or metadata of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines.  Like Google BooksGoogle Scholar is one of the research tools that students often overlook when searching on the web. Google Scholar can be an excellent place for high school and college students to find peer-reviewed academic papers, journals, theses, books, and court opinions.

Duck Duck Go is an internet search engine that emphasise on protecting researchers' privacy and avoiding the filter bubble of personalized search results. DuckDuckGo distinguishes itself from other search engines by not profiling its users and by deliberately showing all users the same search results for a given search term.
